Project update and the mighty Mite!
8 months ago – Thu, Sep 03, 2020 at 07:57:46 PM

Hey folks,

I just wanted to let everyone know that we've locked the orders on BackerKit and we're getting ready to do item counts so we can go to print. Those of you who purchased digital versions of issue #2 should be getting a download link soon once we finalize it. Some of you have already gotten download links to issue #1 if those were part of your order. We're running pretty close to on schedule at the moment although our original letterer getting COVID set us back (thankfully, he's slated to make a full recovery). If there are going to be any delays regarding the physical items I will be sure to let you know.

In other news, September 12th marks the Kickstarter debut for Comic Unity Online Convention, which will feature the opportunity to purchase a number of works by well-established indie comic book creators, among them Scorpiana's own C.B. Zane! He's written and drawn the origin story for the Mighty Mite, a pint-sized powerhouse packing a pair of pink space buns that must be seen to be believed! The story and art are fantastic, so mark your calendars -- you won't want to miss out!

The Mighty Mite!

Updates and a Reminder
9 months ago – Wed, Aug 12, 2020 at 08:12:17 PM

Hey everyone!

I just wanted to check in and give you a couple of updates and a reminder. First, the updates! The lettering of the book is going great. We have a new hand aboard, Lucas Gattoni, and he is really nailing the words and sound effects. Kudos to Scorpiana artist extraordinaire CB Zane for locating him and procuring his services. We are very much on schedule and when you do get this book in your hands, I'm confident you're all going to love it.

Second, I want to announce that we've made Cover "G" for issue #1 -- the blank sketch cover -- available through the BackerKit store. Long story short, we had enough interest in it that we had to put it on offer. This is also to let anyone who pledged for it in the campaign know that it's now in the store and can be selected as an add-on. You spoke, we listened!

Finally, and I know I keep harping on this, but I want to make sure everyone reviews their orders and make sure they're not being double-charged for postage. (This is something that can happen in the BackerKit store due to the way they have you set up items. I've worked out a method to prevent that from happening for future campaigns, but with most of the surveys returned already, we'll just put up with it one last time. So check that postage! Please! We are not some scammy campaign that wants money we didn't earn! If you see a second postage charge, drop me a line and I will correct it by issuing a credit! In the words of Jerry Maguire, help me help you!  ;-)

Anyway, take care, and if you have any questions, problems, or concerns, don't hesitate to contact me!

Reminder about BackerKit orders and postage
9 months ago – Sat, Aug 08, 2020 at 11:20:19 PM

Hey everybody,

This is just a friendly reminder that if you add items to your pledge and see BackerKit charging you again for postage even though you already paid the appropriate amount, just let me know and I will go in and offset it with a credit. The only occasion where you might have to pay a little extra is if your adjusted order includes 4 or more books (whereas it had previously been under that amount), and even then I'll make sure the total amount of postage being charged is proper. Also, your cards won't be charged until after orders are locked which won't happen for a while, so there'll be plenty of time to get things right.

Otherwise, if you have any other questions or concerns, always feel free to reach out to me and I'll be happy to respond. You're the best backers in the world -- don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

Smoke Test incoming for some backers
9 months ago – Wed, Aug 05, 2020 at 10:16:35 PM

Hey there Scorp-a-maniacs--

Just a heads up to let you know that progress on the comic is proceeding swiftly! All that was left to do was the lettering of the book, and now that we've locked down a replacement it's happening with all deliberate speed -- we should make our deadlines with no issues, and hopefully (fingers crossed) exceed them. In the interim, this is just a note to let you know that we are now integrated with BackerKit, and very shortly around 5% of you will be receiving a preliminary survey (called a "Smoke Test") to ensure that everything appears to be running smoothly. Presuming all goes well, the rest of you will get yours soon thereafter. This will enable you to verify your purchases, verify your add-ons, and even select more if desired. Be on the lookout!
